Many homes have a unique scent that the homeowner isn't able to smell. This can be a pleasant smell, however it can also be a horrendous smell. Many pets can "claim" a room and their scent can destroy a carpet. It can cost several thousand to replace carpets all through the house or rack up tremendous cleaning bills.
Now, we here at All Square Homes team aren't advocating you get rid of your pet. Pets provide a great deal of comfort, but what can be done to prevent them from ruining the carpet and costing you thousands of dollars?
Here are some helpful tips to help make your pets space smell a little better:
If your pet does make a mistake, baking soda and vinegar can be used to remove the scent! Baking soda is a natural odor absorber. It is recommended you sprinkle some all over the affected carpet. The longer you let the baking soda sit, the more odor it absorbs. Once you've let the baking soda sit, simply vacuum it up. Repeat the process once every few weeks.
Using things candles and essential oil diffusers can make any space smell great. Scents with citrus are known to boost feelings of happiness and are typically associated with cleanliness. If you're using an essential oil diffuser, make sure to not lock your animals in the room with them. Some animals can have allergic reactions to the oils and if they don't like the scent, they will leave.
Another great scent is the scent of fresh baked cookies. Fresh baked cookies create a feeling of being home, and are often associated with nostalgia. Regardless of what scent you choose, make sure it is something that guests or potential buyers of your home would find pleasant. Keep it subtle as too much of a good thing can be over whelming.
